Hey all

Well it has been great to see how well the community has came together in this time of need.  My dad and his crew along with others did a extraodinary job.  My mother has been doing a great job with her Real Wishes Foundation.  Gary Greer let us use his warehouse for storage of supplies for the fire crews.  Lastly the community, without all the help from you none of this would be where it is.  The donations have been endless whether it be clothes, food, water, gatorade or money they are all greatly appreciated and they will help a lot of people.  There will be a barbecue Sunday, July 3 12-4 at the park to honor the firefighters and all the money will go to the Real Wishes Foundation.  Please come out and show support.

Update June 20, 12:01

Well obviously today was a tough day out there.  The fire came running down Miller canyon between 12:00 and 1:00pm ad fire screws were ready to battle the blaze.  Local agencies set up on highway 92 to prepare to take on the fire as soon as it headed down the hill.  Listening to the radio I thought they could hold it but with 40 mph winds its a tough job.  After the fire crossed highway 92 local agencies rushed odown Hereford Road and Ramsey Road to try to do back burns and anchor the fire back in.  They were very succesful with this operation. The fire was stopped at Burro road thanks to heavy air support that was grounded the entire day due to weather conditions.  It is still unconfirmed how many strcutures were lost but there will be structure damage in this area according to inside sources.  Ricardos and Nicks place are confirmed losses.  Sorry the update was so late had a long day filled with multiple evacuations. Also new pictures are posted in the picture tab they were taken today of the Hereford area near Ricardo's.

As always stay safe.

Update 8:30 pm

Well it was a pretty easy day for the firefighter today.  The fire is pretty far on the south side of the mountain but with winds expected to be in the 50's in the canyon and 40 in the valley the fire could change at any moment.  There is a lot of stress on the homefront and I am very sorry for the people that have been affected by the fire I cant even imagine what they are going through.  Mandatory evacuations from Hereford road all areas north, east of Y-Lightning road, south of Ramsey road, all the way to the river.  Please have your stuff ready so if the times comes you can be safe.

Evacuations are on sierravistaaz.gov

As always stay safe.

Update 11:50pm

Well the Antelope fire is under-control and was started by accident by a grader who hit a rock and sparked a flame.  The monument fire is 15% contained and has grown to just about 19,500 acres.  Currently working on the fire are 764 personnel, that includes 23 crews, 54 engines and 5 helicopters as well as multiple planes.  The blaze is on the back side of the mountain but with high winds could easily come back to this side.  Crews are putting in some hard work to keep structures safe.  As of today 47 homes were lost between Ash Canyon and Stump Canyon no main structures were lost on the east side of Highway 92.  With high winds coming this weekend lets pray for the safety of all the men and women who are laying their life's on the line.  Also lets pray for the safety of our beautiful community of Sierra Vista, Hereford, and Palominas that many of us call HOME.

P.s. Please show your support at the car wash tomorrow at 8 am at Chili's in Sierra Vista.

As always Stay safe

Update for both fires

The fire that was on Fort Huachuca is under control but fire crews will remain in the area to make sure their are no flare ups.  No structures were damaged in that fire even though some were threatened.  Fry fire, Sierra Vista Fire, Fort Huachua fire, and multiple air crews were there to help battle the blaze.  The monument fire grew to 18,000 acres over night but it seems to be staying higher in the mountains.  Crews will be heading back to the Monument fire this afternoon.

Thanks Chief and all the other men and women who are battling these fires.
